The largest group on the streets of Vancouver, is made up of children who have run away from home and turned to prostitution or pornography to get money for food or drugs.
The second-largest group in the City is made up of children who live at home and are used by family or friends in exchange for money, food, drugs or other benefits.
The third-largest group of victimized children in Vancouver is made up of "throwaway" children who have been abandoned by parents or guardians and turned to the sex trade to survive.
CHOICES INTERVENTION
Sounds simple doesn't it? Choose to leave "the life" or choose to stay? Get busy living or get busy dying - one or the other. Choices is an intervention program that assists sex trade workers or people in crisis and who want to exit the life, with real choices and permanent solutions. Intervention fees are charged on a sliding scale and based entirely on the ability to pay. Funding for this program was cut by the government because it was found to be too intrusive. We do not believe in harm reduction nor do we accept the notion that relapse is a part of recovery. If you or your loved one wants to get clean and off of the streets, call us if you want a solution.
The photos to the left of this are of two women who were murdered by Willie Pickton. The young man's name is Billie. Billie has been active in the sex trade since he was just 12 years old and on the streets. Chicken Hawks (predator pimps) kept Billie high on crack and meth for three years while exploiting, raping and victimizing him. Billie is safe now although he is H.I.V. positive.
